Correcting Interlude

FOLLOW THE FLIPPING DIRECTIONS!

How hard is that? I mean, if someone gave you a set of written directions on how to get from one place to another, you wouldn't skip around. No, you would start at step 1 and move on to step 30, not skipping and not deviating. Why then, when I give my students a clear outline on how to do something, do they feel the need to deviate and/or ignore it entirely?
